THE PILGRIM BENEFICE HERITAGE PROJECT
|
|
The project involves all of the churches in the Benefice with regard to:
*Restoration and conservation of existing church buildings along with potential new building
projects.
*The establishment of a five-village Heritage Skills database, and skills training.
*An education programme using the churches and churchyards as the basis for cross-
curricular work for children & young people.
*The establishment of more village history groups and local archives.
*Economic regeneration through heritage and tourism.

We also need people with IT skills, research skills and artists.

FUNDING
|
|
The total cost at present stands at £539,000.
Two major applications for funding have been made to the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the
Heritage Lottery Fund.
Other trusts and foundations are being approached as well.

Three postgraduate students studying at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in
Worcester Massachusetts, (Sarah Van Oudenaren, Colin Slifka and Berk Birand) visited the Benefice this year to study the workings of the churches within their communities. Their completed study into the preservation and development of the Churches within the Benefice, was presented to representatives from all areas of the benefice at Tibenham Community Hall in July
